Why It Matters

Family law matters are among the most emotionally difficult legal situations a person can face.

Separation, divorce, disputes over children, financial settlements — these aren't just legal problems, they're deeply personal ones. We approach every family law matter with sensitivity, respect, and a focus on reaching outcomes that genuinely work for you and your family.

What We Help With

How we help you.

4 ways we can help with your matter.

Agreements

Binding Financial Agreements

Also known as BFAs or “prenups,” these agreements set out how assets will be divided if a relationship breaks down. We draft and review BFAs for couples entering relationships and those separating.

Formalising

Consent Orders

When separating couples reach agreement on financial matters or parenting arrangements, Consent Orders formalise those agreements through the Family Court — making them legally enforceable. We prepare these documents carefully and correctly.

Divorce

Divorce Applications

We guide clients through the formal divorce process — ensuring applications are filed correctly and efficiently, with clear advice at each step.

Children

Parenting Matters

Arrangements for children after separation need to put the children's best interests first. We help parents reach fair parenting plans and formalise them appropriately.

Questions, Answered

Family Law — common questions

How long does a divorce take in Australia?

You must generally be separated for 12 months before applying for divorce. Once filed, an application typically takes a few months to be finalised. Property and parenting matters are separate processes and can run alongside or after.

Do we have to go to court?

Not always. Many financial and parenting matters are resolved by agreement and formalised through Consent Orders, without a contested hearing. We aim to keep matters out of court where it's in your interest to do so.

What is a Binding Financial Agreement?

It's a legally binding agreement setting out how assets are divided if a relationship ends. To be enforceable it must meet strict legal requirements, including independent legal advice for each party — which is exactly what we provide.
